This was my first time trying to take some product shots in my lightbox I had just built.

a family member asked me to do some product shots (not many 4 photos, 2 items) in December for her so I wanted to get some practice in before the date.

The items are going to be small women's nail care items (not sure exactly what yet).

The first 2 round bottles are the ones I have the biggest issues with, you can clearly see the windows of the light box on the pink round bottle, and you can also see the black slit where the lens was looking in on the red revlon nail polish.

Is there some way to get rid of or minimize those effects?

I was shooting with my nifty fifty, from what I was told that was the best one to use out of my 3 lenses

any/all comments welcome :)

Look pretty good to me- white balance seems a little off in some of the pics but that maybe my monitor. WRT unwanted reflections - suspect that's going to be very difficult with a rounded bottle unless you shoot from a slightly different angle (ie up or down)

damn, i worked hard on that box too :(

I cant remember if used flash for that shot or not (I was using it on and off) but if I did it definitely wasn't diffused

in the exif it doesn't say, theres nothing listed for "flash mode" its just blank

here is the 2 images again

Nice shots, i actually think the reflections add to the image rather than distract IMHO.

I would agree with alliec the reflections actually seem pretty cool to me...however I am not sure what someone else buying or browsing would think about that. I do agree with LordV about the white balance ....seems just off a bit.

Nice shots though. What did you use to build your box?

what kind of lights are you using? i think the swiss army and the last one are best. but some things i noticed. make sure the logos/names are in front and lit well. no reason to advertise a product if half the name is in shadow or not visible. there pretty good shots just fix the white balance so there all the same and your set.

thanks for the tips :)

I set the white balance to tungsten, which is what I read countless people say should be done......what else should I try?

as for materials, I used a large sturdy cardboard box, lined it with glossy white bristal board paper and for lights im using 2 500W work lights from home depot.

HOLY crap they get hot instantly. The items inside the box were toasty when only being in there for a few min
