I snapped a few with my Sigma 80-400. How can / could I get better shots?

Ok, here's my opinion...

I don't know what you can do for #1. The chopped off heads ruin it for me.
On #2 crop the player much tighter and level the horizon.
#4 looks good, you caught the action well.

You should try turning the camera and shooting portrait next time. Good luck.

Level the horizon - Duh! That never occured to me. Well...that's why I'm looking for comments. Thanks!

The lens is a Sigma 80-400 f/4.5-5.6. I like it but then again I just got it and I haven't tried much else.
