I run 4 websites and get inundated with dozens of offers for logo design and site advertising. The sex stuff seems to have dropped off (darn, it, need some of that ointment they advertise, or did I use too much of it?).

This is an e-mail i just got - they always come from this company (producttestpanel.com) usually it is a 300D they are "selling" or that i am going to win for free.
I love the disclaimer - talking about dell and inspiron when they are advertising a sony camera hahahaha

I use Mailblocks - works like the Ticketmaster thing, if someone sends you an email that isn't on your approved list they get a message back asking them to confirm a word (hidden behind a grid, different coloured text, hard to read fonts etc). Any spam creating programs are unable to reply to this message and the spam is deleted from your trash can after a set period of time.
Yes I have noticed the 300D spam.
Only problem with Mailblocks is that AOL have just bought them out :?

It's a real shame that they don't have real reply addresses. You could write back "hey pal,you might need this stuff but i'm doing fine thankyou"!

I assume the nature of the spam you receive depends on which sites you normally visit
But then ... would EvilEnglishman visit DRebel sites???
Best regards,
Andy

only problem with those services, is they catch the automated mailers that web-boards and such generate when you sign up... and I know I don't care to click and type something in for every member that signs up on my site.

If you're using MailBlocks, and you subscribe to a mailing list - let's say you elected to be notified whenever a topic here has been updated, when the Forum sends out a notice to you, it'll get a bounce asking it to reply. Now either Pekka is going to have to wade through the bounce-backs to do this, or he'lljust decide it isn't worth his while to let you get automatic notifications.

Not the case !
You can set up accounts called trackers which are disposable email addresses (in case they become spammed) that go straight to your account without the need to go through the approval process.
