Ahoy!

I have been wondering about the "maybe-going-to-be" new 5D...

The 5D has got the same pixel size as the 1DII/1DIIn.
The 5D has got a weaker AA filter, so it's got better IQ (right?).

The 1D3 has got really good IQ and high-ISO noise performance.
The 5D has better IQ than the 1D2.

So, would it be likely that the new 5D would have even better IQ and high-ISO noise performance than the 1D3?

The 1D2n is a fast pro camera, and it's got worse IQ than the 5D. Would it be possible that the amazing 1D3 would lose IQ and noise-wise against the new 5D if it would come out?

Yes, lot's of words for little meanings, but I hope you understand. :)

Ta,
Aero

The game is technology leapfrog... As features and components are already manufactured for one camera they become readily available for use in other models... Maybe they will add the new battery and live view, who knows...

Well my question was only if the IQ would likely be better in the new camera......

Technology leapfrog ... You bet !!!
While we're all waiting to see, there is one thing for sure: If Canon does come out with a 5DMkII, then it will DEFINITELY be one helluva box. I can't wait to put my L glass on it. BTW, for those watching the poll, the middle option of "waiting" for the new 5DMkII is significantly ahead of buying the current 5D now. Considering how GOOD the 5D is now, I think expectations are running pretty high!!!

Expectations high, yeah, but news from the pre-production bodies, not good.

We'll see what they'll come up with.

Any sources you care to name?...

That is intersting. I have not thought about them changing the bodies. I would be intersted to see what kind of changes they were talking about. Years ago when I got a digital rebel it had a feal of a camera, they rebel xt always felt too small after shooting with the rebel, and I am sure it had nothing to do with the camera body itself, but I think I got better images from the Rebel.
