Evening all..

I spent a pleasant day wandering aimlessly around the North Yorks Moors pointing the camera at anything that happened to pass by.

For some strange reason there seemed to be a lot of old cars zipping around so i though i'd share a few shots with you all..

Steve Perez in his Lancia Stratos. UK Rally Regulars will know that his car is a bit ermm..."temperamental" and sure enough it retired after Special Stage 4.

A Mk1 Escort running in the Kall Kwik rally..

It was good to see Jimmy McRae out and going for it again in a lovely RS1800

Back to the Kall-Kwik, this time with an Opel Ascona 400.

And here's that MK1 Escort again...

Gear as usual was the 1DMK2N with Sigma 120-300 which seems to work quite well. A 1.4x TC was screwed on at some point too.

Thanks for looking in, comments/moans/whinges/name-calling and cash are welcome as always ! :)

Good stuff Geoff. As said, great seeing Jimmy out again, and he sure was flying. You were right about the short cut back to the cars. We took it and actually came out at your car so saved a bit of time and a walk. Shame one of the coils failed on my car on the way home . We got as far as the garage just past Pickering and then had to wait for the RAC (breakdown) Should have got the cameras out and got a few shots of the passing rally cars while we were waiting ha ha.

Indeed it was. Looks like he's enjoying himself too. He's almost 6 minutes in front after Castle O'er 2 :)

I took the short-cut too but there were hardly any cars there when i got back. Everyone seemed to have left early.

I headed towards Whitby and over the moors so i didn't see you stranded in Pickering.

Was Temple Newsam any good? I'm assuming it was set up as a typical Spectator stage with barrier tape everywhere?

Actually there were a few too many Escorts. They are nice to see but a bit of variety is equally nice ;)

The 1D is lovely. It (and the 120-300) just didn't miss a shot all day, other than those i can blame on the Muppet holding them ;).

I only bumped into KevB up at the Quarry so it was just me and a flask of coffee for most of the day. I had a nice walk around the forest though :)

Thanks for the comments everyone :)

Looks like you enjoyed yourself Geff. A good collections of shots. The Lancia is indeed a snotty animal and sounds menacing when its running ;)

Bad news re the car Kev, hope you got it sorted

It never ceases to amaze me how many MK I and II Escorts there are still around in the rally scene and how competitive in the right hands they can be.

It’s a testament to the design 8)

I remember looking for a Mk2 1600 Sport when i was about 20. You could get a really nice one for about £1000 back then...

You'd be lucky to get for for 5 times that now :(

I went down to the Quarry on the 2nd run through Dalby hoping to catch the Stratos from a lower angle as i was perched up a bit high having a coffee on the 1st run....Sadly the car decided it didn't want to play :)

Nice shots Geoff. The Stratos was a rare treat!:). It was another good day in the quarry. A couple of problems with taxi home, but nothing too drastic thankfully! :lol:Craster
