Has anyone successfully re-charged 1Ds batteries via 12v (eg in car). Here in Australia the Canon people tell me that there is not a Canon product available.
Someone told me to purchase an inverter so I looked as though I knew what he was talking about (and obviously don't)
We have 240v here but the mains charger is rated between 110 & 240v so it will work overseas.
Years ago I blew up a studio flash by using a generator so I'd like to avoid problems like that.
Cheers

Paul an inverter is a device that take the 12V dc of your batteries and changes it to 110 or 220 V AC (depending on model) like you would get out of you outlet at home. So by using the inverter pluged in to your car 12v sockit the pluging your 1Ds battery charger in to the inverter you are basicly charging it just like you would at home. Just keep the car running it will drain the car battery fast.

I don't have any 1DS camera or battery, so I can't comment about that, but the BP-511 battery is commonly used on lots of cameras here. Of course, I received the Canon two-slot charger for normal charging from normal AC power. Then later I got a one-slot charger that will operate from normal AC power or else 12v DC power from an auto. That is kind of handy to use on long road trips since I don't have to fire up my auto's inverter that way, and it is more efficient.

This is what you need: a CR-560 BATTERY PACK
it costs about 150 euros, and you can charges 2 511 or 512 batteries at one time.

Not for the 1Ds he doesn't. 1Ds uses a different, NiMH, pack.
