Took a quick trip to the Albany Mudflats today with the 20D and 500
f4.5L + 1.4x. Here are a few shots of some shorebirds/seabirds landing.

Thanks Steve. The pelican was the furthest away, but it's a big target.

Great action and nice light; the 4th, 7th and 8th are especially nice!:)

The lighting was good until the fog came in around 3:50 PM, glad I was able to get
some good shots before then.

What a super set of shots plenty of action in these all good but like 5/6 great exsposure on the white's

Nice series George. It seems like all your favorite spots were spared the oil spill. I was a bit surprised there wasn't more on the news about it, but I only heard about it from a thread here the other day.

Thanks Anke, Rob, Mitch, Sindri, Trevor, and Reyno. I appreciate your comments.

Mitch, The spill hit some areas pretty hard, but luckily not too much at the mudflats.
They did close off the Berkeley Marina and Albany Shoreline Park. While I was at the
mudflats, there were a couple of people from the Fish and Game Department looking
for distressed birds.

I saw the pelican coming in and tracked it until it landed. I guess it didn't notice me, because
it came in pretty close. Pretty much filled the frame.

indeed, very lucky you are. . . and skillfull of course, but it is hard to get them to work with you sometimes . .

I liked all the shots but the one which really wins is the Pelican Landing.
