well, after run out places on earth, i'd go visit moon, mars and NASA space station, just a thought, it would make a killer shot of earth from space, maybe that's when canon 1200mm lens comes handy, well, a lot cropping in post processing would be expected ...

Funny. I live there too, and up till recently probably would have echoed that sentiment. But we're starting to think about relocating, and suddenly everything I look at, I think "You won't see that anymore when you leave...". Even the threat of abscence makes the heart grow fonder...

As far as trips, I guess New Zealand, Scandanavia, and Alaska.

I used to always say I'd really like to go to Mongolia, just because it seemed the most remote place you could go to - like the phrase "outer Mongolia". Then I saw part of the first Amazing Race (I think - all those shows run together now), when they went there, and I wasn't really enticed anymore.

I'm liking Alaska at the moment.

I'd like to travel Scotland again.

Been lots of places while in the Navy so a lot of the travel bug has been sated; though I would like to revisit all those places now that I'm into photography.

I'm off to Sicily and Greece in ten days. I never know much in advance where I want to go next. Since a US passport isn't so welcome in many of my favorite places and some other places I would like to go, it's rather limited where I find it advisable to go. PITA.

Anybody coming to Switzerland, let me know. :D

Where in Switzerland are you at John_T.

Went there to school (in summer) many times when I was a kid. And some more when I grew up too, no more though.

When was the last time you went? The buildings, accommodations and designs are unparallelled. I guess you need to know where to go. It's not a historic city by any means, I guess if you are going there as a tourist with no intentions of shopping, then Dubai could be a bore......

Two of the places I'd like to visit are Iran (w/o the mullas in power of course...plz no politics) and Oman. Iran has so much history that I'm sure many will be fascinated by it. Oman has unique and diverse geography, would be very interesting for photographers.

I think Persian-Rice was quite profound when he said in reference to Dubai "I guess you need to know where to go." I think that could apply to any destination depending on your perspective.

If I had to choose 3 locations I'd pick.

1. The South of England to see some of the places I can just vaguely remember as a young boy.

2. St. Petersburg to see how it has changed from when I was there 20 years ago and it was called Leningrad.

3. Japan - never been but would like to travel around and see the various islands.

I live there, too, and I definitely wouldn't say it's overrated. California, Nevada and Arizona are enough to keep me happy. I don't need to go to any other countries...

Top 3 favorite destinations (meaning, been there at least a few times):

1) Cebu, Philippines and some other islands in the area
2) Switzerland - beautiful, scenic country
3) U.S. - too big, too many things yet to see

Destinations I haven't been to yet but would like to if money (and more importantly, time) wasn't a problem:
1) New Zealand - I'd love to visit Middle Earth
2) Italy - for art and history
3) Dubai - for my wife, more of a "if money was no object" one :)

I have a long list of runners up though. The world is a beautiful place. There a many many places I'd like to visit or visit again.

Persian-Rice

Cheese, you are right, that was quite a dumb thing to say, but I guess I could argue that some places are great anywhere you go.

Iran is brilliantly beautiful. Politics do get in the way sometime, but it's still a very very nice country. It is the heart of the old Persia in all reality. Tehran is an urban and very nice city to be, but you have historic city's like Isfahan and Shiraz.

Not quite as amazing as Greece, but it has many comparable sites. Culturally, it's a very warm place that makes you feel accepted.
Its a true uncharted torusist spot, people have a bad picture of the country, but it's the opposite.

Cheers

Last year. I have no interest in shopping, anyway I don't much to shop there.

Yes, a historic city will arouse my interest more.

I love everything, but places like Dubai are great for their architecture and stores. Italy has both, last time I went, I think my shopping bill was equal to my entire trip cost - shopping. But Italy is also very beautiful.

In no special order:

- China ... it's so vast that there's something for everybody. Also includes Tibet, nowadays
- New Zealand
- USA ... haven't seen the National parks, but would love to.

Best regards,

Vast, yes. Not sure about something for everybody though. Don't get me wrong, China is on my list of nice and interesting places to visit. I just don't think it has something for everybody.

I lived in Abu Dhabi for a long time. Much more facinating now than it used to be when i was young. Dubai was always great. But now its like 200x what it was and grows so fast I cannot even keep up.

I find Abu Dhabi a little more peaceful to live in, road construction in Dubai always got on my nerves. Al Ain is a blast to visit...this x-mas I cannot wait to go back with a camera. All those years in the Middle East and I didnt even own a camera then.
