not sure what is happening here - a Ladybird adult should emerge from a pupa, not another pupa

Great shots & find, lucky you eh I'm sat here looking out the window & it's absolutely lashing it down, I may be water proof but the poor ol camera aint, well thats my excuse anyway :lol:

thanks, looks like it might be a 7-spot ladybird pups. Iwonder if the larva stage eat a black ladybird (Pine or similar) and then pupated with its head stuck in its victim - keep it nice and snug in the siberian wind.
EDIT: more likely a Harlequin Ladybird that has split the pre pupa skin and is now in the pupa stage.

Good captures- can't help wondering why hoverfly larvae seem to be wandering about at this time of year. Looks like the Ladybird larva realised it needed a sou'wester on before pupating.
