PW as Shutter Release...Will it focus before firing?

Hello everyone,

I was thinking about purchasing this for my PW set..

What I'm trying to do is have a remote release while not using the sometimes-reliable ebay kits and us. Obviously I wouldn't be near my camera when firing other than to set up the shot. If I were to connect the PW and my 5D by this cable, would this setup focus - if set on AF - before fired? Or should I be looking for an alternative?

Also, if this would not focus before shooting, is there any alternatives you guys could reccomend? I really don't want to rely on a system that'll work for 3-4 feet or something I'd have to resort to battery changing after 5 minutes, so if you have suggestions please keep that in mind.

It all depends on which camera trigger cable you get for it. They have ones that maintain the "partial release" condition and others that don't. IIRC, though, you can't use CF 4-1 and expect the cable to allow AF.
