View Full Version : Which Domke bag or equivalent for 70-200 & 300mm?

I have an MRock Olympic bag/pack, which is equivalent in size to the 200 slingpack. It holds a 70-200 f/2.8 IS and 300 f/4 IS perfectly in their softcases, with the pack's lens dividers out. But it defeats the purpose of a slingpack, which is easy/quick access to lenses/bodies without removing the pack.
So I was thinking of finding a different bag to hold just those relatively big boys, so I can put the MRock to the use for which it was originally intended.
Which Domke or other Domke equivalent bag would be large enough without being too big or bulky to hold these two lenses? (I tried a search here and came up empty.)

Thanks, space - I've been looking at that holster as a potential case for my 40D with one of the lenses on the body.
But I'm trying to find a better way to carry the other or both of my longer-reach lenses when not on the camera body.

If I knew heights, the 5MDH or 6MDH. I got my 70-200 in my 5MDH with other stuff but with only two lenses, I see no problem. If that's the kinda thing you're looking for of course.

My 70-200 2.8 IS fits in the standard compartments of any of Domke's inserts with the hood reversed, so pretty much any Domke bag or satchel other than the F3, F5, F808 or F-9 should work. I don't have the 300 f/4 but it's very little bigger around; the extra length might push you over to a deeper bag though, like an F-802. I think, however, that you'll find trying to carry around two camera bags along with one or two cameras will be a serious pain.

My goal is to store these two big lenses in a bag, taking it and my "regular carry bag" in the car. Once at the site, I'd probably have one long lens attached, and the other moved to the regular bag, IF long reach was the order of the day in shooting.
So it's more for ease of storage & transporting to a photo site, not to schlep two bags around once I'm on foot. Not sure if that makes sense (not having actually done it yet), but that was the plan.
