Went for a walk today and ran up on this feller, I was going out to try some HDR landscape shots and I couldn't resist the up close and personal. It was about 1 pm and really bright out so I thought I'd try some different stuff with it. All C /C welcome. Thanks Travis.

I like the shot but I hope it was a long lens.

I was using the 75-300 @ 6 feet away. Manual, 1/200, F5.0, iso 100 and 170mm with a tight crop. Shot in RAW. Thanks, Travis.

Looks very over-exposed here. Since you shot RAW, I don't understand why it was not possible to tone it down a bit.

Mr. Lay. Due to the harsh lighting the top of his head and nose were really blown out but the rest of his face and body were really dark. I was just trying to see if I could try to get some sort of balance between the two that would still show some of the detail in his scales and tone down the hot spots. And why I didn’t take it down any further I don’t know, I have no excuse. Might have to take this and have another go at it to see what else I can do to it.

The jury’s still out on that one. I think he was more interested in the sun, wasn’t really all that worried about it.;) But thanks for the comment.

Ha ha! That's funny!
There's no such thing as completely this or that - it's all a matter of taste.
Anyway, I'm glad you are shooting RAW - so far as I'm concerned, it's the only way to give yourself a fighting chance.
