I saw, on another post, someone mention Smart Noise Reduction. Is that a Canon utility or 3rd party program? Any recommendations for noise reduction software?

Thanks!

Have you tried neatimage, you can get it for free at www.neatimage.com

I don't think Neat Image is free, but it's cheap & has been recommended by some in the forum.
Helicon Noise Filter has a free version, but only works on JPEGs, so you'll lose a bit of quality when you save it after.

Neatimage will do free jpegs (note it wont do TIFFS) and you can not make money off of them

When you pay it unlocks it and you can do whatever you want with the Jpegs OR TIFFS that it creates.

Also worth checking out is Noise Ninja (http://www.picturecode.com/).

Noise Ninja is a very fine piece of software ! It does (almost) miracles with noisy images - check out this gallery (http://www.pbase.com/olegis/rita__live_in_caesaria&page=all). Most of the images were shot at ISO 1600 and under-exposed, some of them pretty badly.

Thanks for the tips. I've downloaded the demos and just need to take a noisy photo to test them out on!

There is a whole list of noise reduction tools available besides Neat Image and Noise Ninja. Have a look at this:

for a comparison of 18 different noise reduction tools.
