Auto focus fails on EF-S 18-55mm on D-Rebel

With AF mode, 24-35mm zoom range, shot at a while solid wall, I got a auto focus failure, this is very normal auto focus failure, but listen to the next story: don't change any settings to the Lens and camera, shot at any other objects, I never achieve auto focus. How to get of the failure: use MF mode or change zoom out of 24-35mm. I still can get auto focus even I change the setting back to AF/24-55mm. Please help, thanks :wink:

I maen I have to either use MF mode or change zoom distance out of 24-35mm range to achieve a successful focus and then back to the original settings (AF, 24-35mm) for a auto focus. Thanks,
