I'm planning to get a BG-E2 for my 40D. I have 2 batteries, BP511 and BP511A with me now which I plan to use inside the grip.

Is it advisable to use 2 batts with different ratings in the grip? Anyone has some experience to share?

DO NOT mix batteries with different capacities. They are drawn down together (in parallel), and you definitely don't want one battery "dead" before the other one is.

In fact, though, you can use one battery at a time in the "grip". That's the way I always do it. It saves a little weight and I always know when each and every battery is reaching the end of its charge.
