My Canon flash units (550ex and 420ex) came with extensive instructions. I don't think that Canon stopped placing instructions in their newer model flashes.
I have an innovative idea for photographers... Think about reading your instruction manuals and only after you have read them and cannot understand a concept - post a query on an Internet forum.
I realize that this would cut the number of postings down considerably, but it might just be the way to solve many problems.
