Just a word of warning for those updating to XP SP2.

From reading in previous posts I know some of you are using ASUS P4P800 series motherboards (as I am). Today I upgraded to SP2. 10 hours later I have finally got there. After loading SP2 my PC died, would not boot in any way shape or form (including safemode).

I have spent 4 hours on the phone with Microsoft support (who have been absolutely fantastic) to resolve the problem.

It seems there is a problem with older versions of the BIOS and Chipset drivers on some ASUS motherboards with XP SP2. So if you are planning the update I suggest you download the latest BIOS and chipset drivers first and save a lot of hassle...

cheers... Rob

I am running the P4P800e deluxe motherboard. When I upgraded to the sp2 last week my computer crashed one time and then booted fine. I guess i had all the drivers updated. my usb ports stopped working for a couple of days after updating. kinda werid, dont know it was because of sp2.
thanks for the heads up

I'm using the Asus P4B533 and all went very well. No hitches. Even forgot to update the BIOS until after I made the update for SP2.

Glad you all have had no problems. Guess I was the unluky one, but at least it was sorted quickly thanks to MS support.
