If you get the Ovation TV channel (OVTV), they are running a series all this week on the art of photography. Three separate one-hour shows each night, repeated three hours later in case you miss it the first time.

Profiles of photographers, history of photography, etc. Looks interesting.

Thanks, looks interesting. Many other interesting shows too. I didn't even know we got that channel, it turns out my wife has been watching it for some time while I'm watching football, basketball or baseball.

Hey Curtis you changed your hair.

SORRY couldn't stop myself.

Saw a show of Cindy Shermans work at the Museum of Contemporary Art a few years back. Shes an amazing artist.

I've only watched part of a couple episodes in The Genius of Photography series so far (Tivo-ing it so I can watch from the beginning--3 episodes tonight, 3 more tomorrow, reruns all week), but it's already got me thinking about photography on a more what's-it-really-all-about level. It's a nice break from the sometimes mundane discussions of equipment and technique that we're most often involved in in this forum. It's fascinating to see how the philosophy of photography evolved, influenced by the technology of photography and the social/political climate of the time, and how it in turn influenced society.

The easy part of photography is learning the technique. What infinitely more difficult is finding your own voice as a photographer.

Okay, I need help here.

I plugged in my zip code and voila, it's not available in my area.

Where else might I get it?

This won't solve the immediate problem, but if it's not available on your local cable or satellite system then call and request it. They don't know what you want unless you tell them.
