I survived for 7 years (21-28!) without a TV. The only reason I got one was because my brother was moving and needed $100.

So, for me:
1) Take a picture
2) Process a picture
3) Read/comment on this forum
4) Read a book (almost anything)
...
7,237) Go to work
7,238) Actually work at work
7,239) Watch TV
7,240) Go to the dentist

News channels. verifying 'news' headlines with the blogosphere.

Often, I'm computing via laptop so whatever the wife's watching ends up being background media to whatever I'm doing. Otherwise, all recreational time goes toward tinkering w/photography, blogging, playing w/my kids (not necessarily in that order).

I have to admit, I also watch Telletubbies and Spongebob. I also eat leftover maccaronni and cheese as well as Frootloops and half eaten hotdogs. I have 3 and 7 year olds. Go figure. I really do like Spongebob though. How about Jonny Bravo? (I do like him... bad spelling).

Just joking a bit here. I do like to hear what everyone watches.

I forgot about Third Watch too. I watched it from season 1. but last fall/winter they kept moving the days around and I could not keep track, caught a couple consecutive episodes and they are better then ever. Gotta love that Boscharelli.

If the topic was Best TV Show --- Ever, I'd say without hesitation, Victory at Sea (http://www.museum.tv/archives/etv/V/htmlV/victoryatse/victoryatse.htm) . It was a 26-episode documentary on World War II. The title was something of a misnomer inasmuch as it gave significant coverage not only to the naval battles, but to the land war as well.

The series was ground-breaking in a number of ways, but for me, the most endearing (and enduring) qualtiy of the show was the music. The score was written and directed by Richard Rogers (of Rogers and Hammerstein) and actually spawned a couple very successful record albums.

The show first appeared on NBC in 1952, and is still in syndication. It shows up occasionally on History Channel and elsewhere. I'm fortunate enough to own a boxed set on VHS, and will no doubt buy it on DVD if I ever see it.

belmondo,

Victory at Sea was a classic!!! I used to watch it on PBS and it was one of my favorites, a long time ago that is. Now, History Channel has simmilar types of things which are very cool. I just watched Sinking of the Bismark (not the original) but it was really worth watching.

Just my opinion, but at least with the episodes I have seen, 6 feet under lost its humor after a couple of episodes. I still laugh at dead like me episodes. Both do have a somewhat serious take on death and its issues, I just like the style of Dead Like Me better.

I fully intended to watch Father of the Pride, and had even reserved the TV (necessary precaution). I then ended up spending hours on the telephone with Earthlink support trying to figure out why I couldn't send email. They gave up on me at about 10:00pm. At 11:00pm I got it working without their help. Missed the show, though.

Favorite show is "Stargate SG-1". I also liked "Space: Above and Beyond" when it was on.

But I am a sucker for old sitcoms:

Laverne and Shirley
Newhart
Bob Newhart
Mary Tyler-Moore
Dick van Dyke
Wings
Night Court
Golden Girls

The one that can really make me laugh out loud is "Golden Girls".
"Night Court" is great for sometimes sick humor.
The others are like having old friends in your living room.

-Three's a Company
-The Voyager
-Who's the Boss
-Starsky and Hutch
-Miami Vice
-Batman
-Wonderwoman
-The Incredible Hulk
