I've got an RCA digital voice recorder, and it just so happens that it records into a winamp media file, which apparently no other program can recognize.

I tried installing winamp, but it won't work. It gets stuck near the end of the install process. I've tried many times.

Any ideas?

As far as I can see, Winamp is a player and not a format of its own (I could be wrong though). Any chance of hosting and linking us to an example?

The file format is "Winamp media file". It's a .VOC file, technically. I've tried iTunes, Audacity, and Windows Media Player. None know what the hell it is. Still can't get winamp installed.

I can't get hosting services to recognize the .voc file.

.VOC seems to be a Creative Labs file format.

Try this player too. http://www.codec-download.com/article.php?sid=317

and look at http://www.dbpoweramp.com/

I tried those things, but they didn't work.

I hadn't tried the software that came with it, because after seeing an online discussion about it, all said that you could only play the files, and that it was essentially useless.

However, I installed it anyway, and there's a button that says "make .wav" and it did it in about half a second.

Solved!
