Well, I am one of those who just shifted from Nokia N73 3.2 mega pixel camera to Canon EOS 350D.

I had to wait for my first SLR as it involved a lot of money. Right now all I would be clicking from is going to be the default lent that you get with it.

I got Photoshop Elements 6 installed to edit the pictures.

Today I went for my first shoot as the camera got delivered around afternoon.

I am ready to learn, there's a long way to go, hence your comments are highly appreciated.

Thanks for all the comments. Hoping to learn a lot from all of you out there.:D

To start with, here are 3 pictures which I clicked today. These are resized versions.

Actual pictures are at:

get a tripod. and learn how to do long exposures on the things that sit still. like the light pole and such. you would get better results and not rely on your flash.

keep taking more and more shots and welcom to POTN. there are lots of people who will give you lots of advice.

yep keep up the work and the pursuit of this hobby! i would leave out the comments on the pictures if i were you, imho it makes an image a bit less tasteful.

Yea, I agree about the on board flash...leave it tucked away. I would start by taking more pictures with people in them. Maybe that's the photojournalist in me, but it's a good subject matter to learn good techniques IMHO. Also, scour these forums for ideas on general composition. But most importantly, as said before, keep shooting! --joe
