Hi all:
This is my first time posting in the sharing section, so let me apologise in advance for any gaffes.

I posted these two images in the EF50/1.8 thread, but I thought they might have a better home here, especially as I'm interested in any comments.

These were taken during a stroll down Queen Street yesterday, and are my first attempts at urban architecture images.

Basic set up was 30D RAW ISO160 around f/8 and 1/200 using the 50/1.8. I did quite a bit of PP on these (no kidding ;)).

What do you think?

(Images are linked to their respective flickr pages if you want to see them bigger)

the 2nd one has lots of texture and pattern to the composition, nice.

I really like both of them, but the first one is really vivid, with nice colours.

What is that second one?

The second one is a portion of the face of a high-rise building. It has recessed windows, but part of each window surround is cut away.

The second one is just great. I have been training myself to look for lines, textures, and patterns, but I have seen anything as cool as that. Great shot.

Thanks. Yes, it came out really well, I thought. I think it was important to eliminate the building edges to reduce the image just to texture, with no context, and the monochrome conversion helped too.
