I'm sure you've noticed that the ratio of Males to Females here is almost like 99.9% to 00.1%. Why do you think the reason is.

Well, from what I've seen at least 80 percent of professional and serious hobbyist photographers are male. Hard to explain why ... perhaps it has something to do with men being more into gadgets and "toys". Dunno.
Additionally, fascination and/or obsession with technology and computers seems to be a male thing by about the same percentage. (Although internet usage is somewhat of an exception to that rule, so there's a good chance my guess is complete hogwash). :?
Add these two trends together, and perhaps we arrive at the ratio in question ...

I think you might be surprised. Whereas the clear majority of forum members is male, we have more than a few females who post using gender-neutral names. I leave it to you to figure out who they are.

Rampant male chauvinism, no doubt.
Where some females lag the males in technical drive, they lead in artistic skill.
When we shoot family shots at weddings, it is always two guys trying to set the f-stops and make sure that everything is technically accurate, but it is a woman who does the artistic view and makes artistic rearrangements.

Could it be that the women are out there doing it while the guys are in here talking about it?

That's what lead me to that question. For some reason I always thought that females excel at arts.

this is an interesting thread. I can't wait to read the conclusion of the research on this topic :P .
I don't want to take any guesses because I might sound sexist, and that I am not (except when I am doing it on purpose to piss of women :D )

Most likely, photography is not art.
Or at least, discussing it in a forum, is not
Best regards,

Andy, I beg to differ; some of us feel we've carried posting in this forum to an artform.
