Alright I am a HUGE LOVER of french fries... I crave them, and I LOVE THEM! Anyways my question is...
We all know french fries are bad for us BUT, how bad is BAKED FRIES?
Reason being is I try not to eat FRIED french fries BUT, I got a bag of fries and the grocery store and pop them in the oven... Is it still that bad...? I know the carbs are bad for me BUT, I don't know what else to do!!!
:(:oops::cry:

The carbs are not bad for you unless you have too much. Baked is certainly better then fried, BUT most pre-packaged, frozen fries are also partially pre-cooked (i.e. the frying method), so they're full of fat already even before cooking.
Best thing to do in this situation is chop up your own from fresh potatoes.

They'll kill you. :) Just kidding. In moderation, you're probably okay.

But, you can't tell a french fry lover to eat it in moderation though. Even if you cut up your own potatoes, its just not the same. :(
Ooooh what about seasoned fries??? I'm hungry now.

Read the ingredients on a packet of oven-baked fries - you'll find even the raw ones are sprayed with oil so they'll go all nice and crunchy on the outside. Otherwise they'd just be baked potato without the jacket!
Sorry, not what you were looking for. I think they have slightly less oil though, correct me if I'm wrong?

Live a little, something has to kill you, let it be something you love. A girlfriend or a wife can do it but it would be a lot quicker.:)

Take any kinda potato. Slice em fairly thin into circles (you know, just slice it on its side). Then put a bunch of pure olive oil in a fry pan and turn it on med-hi. Put some minced garlic in, and when it's hot, start laying those potatoes out. When the get browned, flip em. Maaaaannnnnn...my great grandmother taught me to do that, and I sure thank her. Healthiest way to eat a tater.
Oh, and to those that say olive oil is high in fat, don't bother. It's good fat.

That's what my doctor tells me. :) Edit: To clarify :) - he tells me it's good fat and to replace other cooking oils with olive oil. He's a very good doctor, by the way. :) :)

You must have some doctor if he's telling you that olive oil is a bad food. Few things we eat are as healthy.

its all about balance of foods ... lets say you eat some fries from micky D's or Arby curly season'd fries ... just balance it out with a diet softdrink and you'll be fine .... lol

Potatoes...... mmmm I wish I had some because I want to have some mashed taters right now - but that will come tomorrow I guess.
The thing with frozen foods are the trans fat they have.

No, he tells me it's good food. He recommends the Mediterranean Diet. You misconstrued my comment. :(

There's a reason Mediterranean people are in such good shape.

Just eat them.
Everything is bad for you in some way.
And remember, good health is just the slowest way in which a person can die.

All things in moderation.
The best fries are when you take potatoes, cut them into the proper shape, and deep-fry them yourself. Once they're crispy-done, take them out and salt them moderately. Mmmmmm.... REAL fries.
PS - making them yourself not only tastes better, it's cheaper as well.

Well, you're already grilling the burgers so the time is already being spent. This is just filling in the break times with other cooking activities.
