A balck Rose

A black rose in a rainy day.
Any comment please to improve it...

The first one is pretty much perfect. The lighting is awesome, the exposure is spot on, the B&W conversion works brilliantly, the sharpness and DOF is just awesome, and the composition is great. I only wish it were bigger.

The second one isn't really pleasing to look at. Too light, blown out highlights, dynamic range is lost, and the B&W conversion really doesn't seem to work.

It's amazing how a small amount of processing can make or break an image, isn't it? Oh, and there's nothing wrong with batting 500 ;).

First of all thank you.
I agree considering that the #1 has been processed using only the blue channel instead of all the color channels for the #2.
But what do you mean with "batting 500"?

The first is Excellent. I agree with what Chris said about the second though. Batting .500 is a baseball reference. It means hitting half of them.
