I like it A LOT! Excellent still life. What is the environment? Abandoned house? Old movie theater?

There are only 2 minor things that I would do:

1) I would have liked a slightly more uniform background. Maybe an area of the vent (?) that did not have the downbrace (the one just to the left of the rose). There is likely nothing you can do about that, though.

2) I would fiddle with the skew just a tiny bit. Try to get the horizontal lines more parallel.

There may be others who would like to see the actual flower brought out more, but I like it as is: In its own shadow. The hi-lights around it are perfect, and you would blow those out if you brought it up more. I judgement call to be sure, but I think you made the right one.

All in all, excellent shot!

My favourite part of this photo is the use of shadows and highlights, it's prefect! All natural light I assume? :)

I find myself distracted by the 'junk' on surface having more detail than the rose does due to the light angle and position the shot was taken. This photo doesn't give the rose the spotlight even though it is the center of attention... sort of a gloomy side of the rose. It's a very interesting perspective, but for me it just doesn't do it for me. I would have liked to see the rose lit up. This is all personal opinion.

... sort of a gloomy side of the rose.....

Which is EXACTLY why I like it. Faded glory, decaying beauty in the midst of decay. Very compelling.

This is all personal opinion.

In the stock market we say "and there is a buyer for every seller." That is one reason why I like this board. There is such a wide breadth of shots posted here that everyone gets thier crank turned once in a while. Sort of "a wrench for every nut."

Nice to see a decent image for a change with a little bit of thought put into the shot rather than the plethor of snapshots many are posting of late.

Great image I love it.
