Male and female window gnats ( Sylvicola fenestralis) and the inevitable.
Not sure if they had a slight leak but the droplet in #5 disappeared again fairly quickly (ie did not fall off).

What a superb set of shots Brian. Great clarity and detail, 2 and 5 are my Favs.

Thanks Linda - I rather liked the wing colour but the reflection made the exposure a bit difficult :)

Hiya Brian,

Excellent series of shots, my favorite is #2. BTW what surface is that in #1 Brian looks like a ' Scabby ' bit o Cheese :lol:

#1 is on an apple slice, #2 on the side of a water barrel and the others on the black water barrel lid. I've started putting bits of fruit on this to see what they attract. Because the barrel side curve down and the lid is raised I can get some lovely low level shots of bugs if they perch/land in the right place.

Thanks for that, recon I'm going to have to lay some bait ere soon or I'll go stir crazy it's dead as a door nail, mind you we had one hell of a frost last night so everything must be well hunkered down, even my favorite Springtail spot is barren
