that being said, I'd like you guys to take a look at a shot I got at our wedding last weekend. I know there's a few technical problems, like the window and dress being blown, and it being cock-eyed. But, for some reason I kinda liked the idea? My husband hates it, and his mentor told me to throw it away and pretend I never took it...lol. At this point, I'm concerned that I just have really crappy taste. If that is the case, be brutally honest! I'd like to get to the point where I can seperate my emotional attachments to the images I take and those that would be considered 'good' by the general public...lol. Is the idea something that could work if it were technically better, or do I just need to focus on traditional shots until my work improves? And, no one panic if it is really that bad, my husband's the 'real' photographer! I just grabbed the camera and played a bit while he was setting up the tripod :D

Personally I think the concept is good. I would to see it with a slightly different angle where you are not sticking straight out of the top of the flowers but maybe off to the side some. Just my opinion (and we all know what those are worth :) )
And of course, as you mentioned yourself, watch the highlights being blown and fix the angle in PP.

Oops, that's not me sticking out, it's the bride. Sorry it read that way. By 'our wedding' I meant my husband shot it and I tagged along to do make-up. Sorry about that.
Thanks for the advice...I need all the help I can get at this point. It makes me feel btter that you like the concept! Now I just have to work on not taking crappy pictures of good concepts. :)

Well, I am by no means an expert. I just know what catches my eye, good or bad, so take it with a grain of salt :).

You could not have pick a harder subject to learn on.
Extreme back lighting from several sources is tough.
I agree with both husband and his mentor and await you next post.
