has anybody used the Canon 1D generic batteries? If so how do they hold up? Do they last as long as the Canon model?

A couple people recently recieved theirs, and one person even did a detailed description (with photographs) of the construction. I think the general impression was that it's a poor substitute for the real thing.
I don't think anyone has had them long enough to give a thorough test of the performance.

is their a particular model you are refering to? I have heard others say the same thing. I am not speaking of the $20 one floating around in ads. This one is $70. I have used the generics for the 10D with no problem.

I didn't do the post with pictures, but did have a few opinions on the build quality.

Recently I got an aftermarket one from mydigitaldiscount.com. Within the first 50 frames or so in my 1DM2, the camera lost all power on 3 occasions. Pushing on the battery corrected the situation. Fortunately this did not occur during a write.
I appears the battery is not seating well in the camera. Also, the release switch does not have enough tension on it to remain in a flush position, thus it keeps flipping out and getting in the way. While it's hard to complain about a $30 battery, this one will definately only be used as a last option.
