Old Flash Units

I have an old flash unit, one of my dads, my dad tried it on the camera and it worked...much to my surprise - as its dedicated to an old film pentax camera

Now I have been told that I may have a problem with the output of the flash (it may fry my camera). I have no manual, any ideas if I can find out whether I will damage the camera by using it?
its a centon FG30D

I can't find any serial numbers or anything like that, it takes 4 AA batteries. Anyone?

Cheers, it says FG30D on the flash but no X, I think I best give it a miss.
