So who stayed out in the cold like a looney bird? I showed up at Circuit City at 5pm, and I was 3rd in line. It was HORRIBLE. 12 hours of freeeeeeezing cold weather, and I was slightly underdressed. I couldn't find my gloves, and didn't have a hat, just the hood on my coat, which granted, is lined in wool. It was horrible, though. My back hurts, my neck hurts, and my feet are terribly sore.

However, I saved a load of money. I got a 42" Panasonic plasma panel, a 19" 1080 Sharp lcd, an XBox 360 Halo 3 Special Edition, a few games, and some little goodies. Best part? Got it all for around 1600. I've already got the Sharp panel setup with the 360 underneath it, which is just lovely. Might hook up the Wii there, too. Make it my "gaming station". I went with a little display for the games, because if I'm sitting/standing near my desk, it's the same as sitting in the living room with the 51/57" across the room. Similar perceived size.

So...whadidya get?

I was 3rd in the store, and it opened at 5. I was on the highway home by 5:38, including driving out back and having the plasma loaded.

There were stores opening here as early as midnight.

That's insane.

I have to go to my local camera store today to get an end cap for a lens, and I'm dreading it. I can't even imagine trying to do Christmas shopping. Hell, that's what the internet's for.

At a local Best Buy, people were lining up as early as 7:00pm on Wednesday. Sorry, but there's nothing that could make me want to do that...

Hmmm. Day off from work. I got some good sleep this morning. No amount of savings on anything is worth it to me to stand out in the cold,

Ditto - BUT! If the local camera store was selling Canon 500mm f/4 IS lenses for $2000 if you get there by 4am in the freezing cold weather - heck yeah I would show up! But that is a $3000+ savings ;-)

$100-$500 savings? Not worth it.

Midnight? My wife got up at 3 AM this morning to go to her second job at a local department store because they were opening at 4 AM. And I thought that was way too early...

Skip hit the stores before I got off work this morning. I wanted him to buy an Epson
R380 printer for one of our daughters and he got the only one on the shelf!

He also picked up a couple of the 4 gig CF cards.

I went to Staples at 7 and they had tons of stuff. I ended up with 2 4gb Ultra II's and 2 2gb Ultra II's and 4 digital frames and other stuff. They had more than enough to last the morning rush.

I managed to get my sister and dad to come with me.
We left at 4:30 and there was a huge line outside BestBuy.
I managed to get a WesternDigital 500GB myBook and a 22" monitor.
They opened at 5 and I was out by 5:40.
It was awesome.

I can't tolerate crowds and avoid sales like the plague. I won't queue either - my off-time is precious to me and apart from a fairly long list of stuff i would like, i have everything I need.

Internet shopping has changed my life - i have already done 90% of my Christmas shopping, and it's all paid for!

Now i just need to find someone to wrap it up for me.....

I thought that, too. But the buys at Staples, I couldn't ignore them. And I stopped mall shopping about 2 years ago. I just get frustrated waiting. But I did get to Costco this afternoon and spent more money. :)

You sound like me. I have done almost all my shopping via Internet but luckily Skip likes to shop so I can send him out. All I gotta do is yell, "Hey Errand Boy.......":lol:

I bought all the toys for my sons on the net last year and didn't even open the boxes until Christmas Eve to wrap. That way, I don't have to hide them. I just stack the boxes in the garage. No one knows. :)
