I was chatting with a fellow POTN'er, and I was saying that hubby and I are finally planning a trip to Mexico.its been about 12 years since we have been anywhere!
We were in Tijuana in 1977:rolleyes:, thats the extent of our knowledge, outside of friends traveling.

Where would you suggest to stay, all inclusive is what we are looking for.and somewhere probably central to the activities such as the ruins, snorkeling, jungle stuff etc.

Looking for a 4 star place ..on the beach.

I have looked on the net, but having advise from folks who have been is far more reliable.

Also, photo ops I am sure will be at every turn,I will need some new lenses to tote along with me;)

Thanks for any info.

Living in San Diego, I can say that Tijuana is not representative of Mexico. Never has been...

Since you mentioned ruins, I assume you are going to the Yucatan. I would suggest you contact a good travel agent. They can furnish you with the information you seek. Although I have traveled extensively in Mexico, I won't go there anymore. My reasons are primarily political in nature, and we'll leave it at that... I'm much more interested in traveling in the US now.

Also, don't forget to get your passports before you go.

If that's what you're looking for, Yucatan or Quintana Roo is where you should be looking. I'm thinking staying in Cancun, which is where you'd find the fancy resorts, and visiting places like Xcaret (http://www.xcaret.com/) and Xel-Ha (http://www.xel-ha.com/). Not quite my style, but whatever works for you ;-)

If you're feeling a little adventurous and willing to forego the luxury, I'd recommend checking out Tulum, there's plenty gorgeous jungle and beaches and ruins to check out in that area as well, couple hours south of Cancun.

If' you're looking at another area of the country, drop me a line, I might be able to give you a few suggestions.
