oh, don't feel too bad. Most of the people we shoot with have forgotten batteries, cf cards, I won't mention the time I forgot to grab the camera bag ;) It happens...and people will tease ya about it...relentlessly

Virtually every person that owns a camera has a similar horror story...live and learn...spare batteries and spare memory cards really make life simpler...a battery charger that works off your cigarette lighter or power port is another great little day saver.

Ya know, I have never left a battery behind, but I have left my CF cards behind many times. I now keep a spare 1 meg one in the car just in case.

Well, I've never heard of that stuff, but I've heard of at least one person who shot on f/22 all day and couldn't figure out why the shutter speeds weren't up to par with everyone else's. How funny is that? Just saying.

The night before, I get everything ready that I'll need and I take a couple of shots to test the camera. I started doing this after making the mistake of forgetting something.

I haven't left without the bateries yet. I did leave my apartment without my Epson P-3000... it wasn't such a bad thing... until I realized I left my CF card in there... welcome to the club!

Usually I'm good at not forgetting anything, but I got bored and just grabbed my bag...

Yes, I went back out. By the time I got home and grabbed the battery, I had to cut my day short because the I didn't have much light left. Ten frozen fingers, and two good shots later.

If you take the battery out, leave the battery door open until you put it back in.
If you take the CF card out, leave the CF card door open until you put it back in.

Having at least one spare of each in your bag wouldn't hurt either.

I once went to shoot some car races and didn't realize until I got there (riding with someone else) I'd left the camera at home. Thank god it wasn't far and my wife was able to bring me the camera. (See my signature...)

You mean you don't have spares in your wallet? ;)

I have 4 spares for 2 cameras and I am always thinking I need to recharge. I had that happen to me only 1 time when my battery ran out of juice. I usually forget CF cards, but solve that problem by buying so many, I have them everywhere.

Last winter while chasing owls across farmer's fields, loaded up on different lens, batteries, cleaning kit, munchies and water, everything except extra memory.

When I first changed over to digital this summer the wife and I went on vacation. I was so excited to go out and use the new camera and not have to pay to get the pictures developed, that the first day I filled a 2 gig card. I didn't think anything of it until I realized , I only had two cards with me and four more days of vacation. As I write this I think I'm sensing a pattern. Not only do I need more batteries, I also need a few more CF cards. I can see my wifes reaction now!!!
