What (halfautomatic) settings on the IS90 are best to take macro shots ?

How close up do you want to get? I use the 500D closeup lens which lets you get between 34 and 50cm. You can get some good results at these distances.

An auxilliary flash helps a lot because the built in flash doesn't do a very good job when your are close up.
