This one decided to pose in a favorable setting multiple times (after being totally elusive for the first day or so after I spotted him), all in a span of two hours:

Nice shots avwh!

These guys are a ton of fun to observe. They get very comfortable around people if you spend time in the yard. Mine are almost eating out of my hand.

That's a new variety of chickadee for me. We have 3 kinds here, but I have never seen this one. :)

A Chestnut Backed Chickadee, common along the left coast. They share territory with the black capped but usually hunt the upper portions of the conifers while the black capped the lower.

Thanks, Brad, for the ID. We seem to have more than a few birds whose range is pretty much just along the coast.

Allen, when I saw that bird, I had to look in the book. This is a new one for me. The Chestnut-backed...very nice...hope it stays around for you...steve
