Well I went to Circuit City yesterday after the 2000 PPL that were waiting cleared out!
UNREAL yeah they were waiting from 1am till 5am when they opened.
Police and Fire were there cuz store legal holdage was 400 PPL at a time.
Anyway I purchased 2 Sandisk 2GB Ultra II SD's for my Palm TX.
How could ya pass em up for $17.99 each??
They are kinda odd....solid black and the have no gold or red marking like I have seen.
Just solid black and say Sandisk Ultra II 2GB and have a #4 in a circle.
Packaging looks completely normal!
What's up with that?
Don't even see these on their website.
Idea's?

Looks similar to the SDHC design. Perhaps they're moving to new labels to try and combat fraud. They might change 'em up every so often to keep the counterfeiters behind the times...who knows.
Contact SanDisk and find out.

Kinda what I thought but don't show em on their site.
Yes I have seen the SDHC ones like that.
Gezzzz they have had the same design for a LONG time now.
Just has me curious! :)
Wonder what the 4 in the C (Circle) means?

I haven't purchased Sandisk SD's lately but I did get some Kingstons...they too had a different label compared to my older ones. They looked like the photos though.

The 4 in the circle is the speed class (http://www.sdcard.org/about/speed_class/) (Class 4 = minimum sustained write speed of 4 MB/s). That's a bit odd because the Ultra II is much faster.
What's also strange is that the speed class only appears on the SD card and not on the SDHC card.
The speed class logo is optional for SD but mandatory for SDHC.

My point exactly....odd card and markings.

Contact SanDisk and just confirm with them about the design. It's probably to combat piracy and counterfeiting, as someone already suggested.

I have an Ultra II SD bought several months ago that's just like the "new" one above. BTW - prior to the advent of the SD HC spec, speed ratings were generally "burst" speeds, not sustained throughput rates. Hence the apparent discrepency.

Today I just bought a 2 Gig Utra II CF card from Staples and it has the same type of label. All Black.

I tend to agree with CDIFOTO that it has to do with the counterfeiter bit.
Gezzzz I liked the distinctive look of the old label.
Now they look really BLAH!
