How do you know if you are taking a snapshot as I've seen it referred to here... or is that a photograph?

I've done the camera bag with 800lbs of camera related stuff in the past. I choose to use my S50 for ease and convienence these days. Does that mean I'm condemned to taking nothing but snapshots?

Would love to hear comments from both ends of the spectrum!!! Below is a snapshot, or is it a photograph? :)

Let people say what they want, if you like photography and think you are taking photographs, then thats what they are.

If it was possible to take a picture with a shoe, it's still a photograph. I guess if you take picture in the form of art rather then taking picture of your grandparents on vacation, you might be able to distinguish between a photograph or a snapshot. There is no right or wrong answer, in my eyes it's what you feel.
