Steve you really have that Kingfisher in the palm of your hand...such sharp shots like I've never seen on this bird...how far away are you? Just amazing...steve

Thanks everyone. The little lady chose a shady spot(nice light on most other perches) but I'm happy she pause for a split second to help avoid blur.
Steve, I was about 15 feet or so.

Fabulous shot Steve ! I saw my first one ever out here south of town at a small river creek that runs through this area with lots' of low trees and brush . No chance to get this one tho , too close to the hwy and i'd have to get on private land to even find it and more than likely will never see it again :( . It's not normal for them to be this far north in w tex . Usually they are in the southern part of w tex .

yep yep, nice shot!
i was thinking just earlier about a blind or some camo of some sort..then i sit and i wait...
very very great shot of this bird. . i see one on the powerlines adjoining HW17 in yulee FL
alot. he looks down on the creek waters and marsh!

John K, find a low perch or perches that the bird visits in the morning hours. Find a place to set up under camo and you'll get your chances. They almost always return to productive perches. Sounds like the one you've spotted has its territory claimed.

i think he has claimed it, and for many yeays i have seen one at the same spot...im not sure how long they live, maybe it is generations returning to the same spot...
