I have a 10d which I have been using to the exclusion of my older G2.
I now find that I would like to also use the G2.

When I put "Digital Camera Solution Disk Ver. 8.0" in my cd drive, it comes up, takes me thru the language selection dialogue, but then does nothing when I click the "install software" option.

Can I install the G2 on the same machine as I have my 10D on, without disrupting my 10D installation?

If so, how do I go about doing it?

I have been running my G3 for almost a year now, and am yet to attach it to my PC, in fact the USB cable is still in its sealed bag!

Instead I use a Compact Flash card reader which only cost me $30NZ ($20US?), saves having to load camera specific software on the PC, in your case you woin't need to load the G software.

You should be able to do what you need by downloading and installing the proper G2 software from the Canon website. Start here:
http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=DownloadDetailAct&fcategoryid=321&m odelid=7476
and then download the driver that is appropriate for your machine (WIA for Win XP/ME, Twain for Win 98/200, or plug-in for Mac OS 9...none needed for OSX). Once you've done that and installed, you should be able to use the software with either camera.

What you describe sounds like a permissions issue. If you are using Windows 2000 or Windows XP Pro, make sure that you are logged in as an Administrator. If you're running WinNT or another unsupported OS, this is also a problem. If this isn't the case, you may want to try rebooting your PC w/o non-Microsoft services or startup items, and trying it again.
