I just bougt an A80, but the 1.5" LCD is too dark, and I've found others say the same thing. I'm still within my return period, so I'm looking at the A85.
It looks like the only (major) difference is the A85 has no swivel screen, but it is 1.8" in size. Are there any other important differences?
Anyone have one?
TIA

You should look at the A95. Its an upgrade to the A80..

I know, but it's more than I want to spend.

If you wait for a couple of months, the prices will surely drop!

I thought the A85 used a smaller CCD?

if you cab't afford the a-95 go for the a-80 if you still can find one...if you are into photography don't give up the swivel lcd.....i can't imagine my camera without one...my a-80's 1.5 lcd is small but imagine trying to fram e a shot from the ground without one....lying flat on my belly to frame a shot on a wet/dusty/gravely/snowy ground is not worth going from a 1.5 to a 1.8 lcd monitor that can't be protected either except with awfull film that don't realy stick and add more glare.....so you see the choice is very simple....the extra .9meg pixel you won't miss unless you are planning to blow every thing.....i'm enjoying madly my little 1.5 lcd ....save money go a-80 then buy yourself an adapter and wide lens at lensmateonline.com.and some good power-x batteries and charger ( buy in canada great exchange rate see this great place...paulsfinest.com out of montreal the best price for bats and chargers...have fun....jump in now when the new stuff is coming on board....a-95 is great but is it worth the extra cash if your on a budget.....cheers

I don't find the lcd to be too dark at all on the A80. I find it very good in almost all light conditions but thats my opinion and i'm prbably biased. As for the A80 v A85, well there would be no way l would give up a swivel LCD. I think l would use it to take at least 50% of my shots. To take interesting, unique shots you need to put your camera in different positions and without a rotating LCD it's just not possible.

You should only be useing the LCD for composing the shot, and use the histogram from checking exposure.
And the swival LCD is the best invetion since the CCD, if your interested in taking more than just snap shots its simply a must have.
