Yes I do it is a great lens. The price has dropped since the new one hit the market. Let me tell ya the new one is not worth the upgrade over the older model. I have the new one and did the upgrade cant tell the difference at all. Optically they look the same to me. So go for it.

Agreed. It's an out-of-production item replaced by the 24-70L. I'd expect it to be well-priced.

Good lens, though.

First, it's not that great a price (used ones in ex+ condition, with hood, can be found for $750), and second, I would stay away from the seller:

That's a different question, but an excellent point. I'm a little embarrassed I didn't pick that up myself.

I was responding to the poster's question about price, and surely the price can be related to the seller's integrity. Why do you feel I'm responding to something different? :?:

No, don't be offended; you are quite right, of course. Price does relate quite directly to the veracity of the vendor and should always has to be taken into account. I was responding the original question, “Does anybody have a comment on this very low price.” I felt (and still feel) that price is about right for that lens. That’s all.

Sorry if you felt I was challenging you or your opinion in any way.

Guess I better go back and re-read the chapter “How Not to Offend People Inadvertently.”

I really believe that people are being defensive in recent posts that have been written. I realize that some tough times have occurred recently but we should get back into a 'normal' mode of conversation.

What I mean by 'normal' mode of conversation is constructive talk of photography, decent sense of humor, and anything else that can make this forum more enjoyable.

If anyone disagrees w/ this statement, please message me and leave the negative comments off the threads.

Let's start a new subject here.....

What kind of lenses does everyone have... or what type of camera bag does everyone have?

Just kidding.

Tom, don't worry mate. I wasn't offended, I was just confused by your response. Sorry if I offended anyone by coming across as offended ... some people have complained that my avatar makes my comments seem harsh and imperious.

But I still don't think that price is anything special.
:P

P.S. If you click the "home" link on the aaacamera page, it takes you to a different vendor's site ... and their reseller rating is equally disturbing: http://www.resellerratings.com/seller2046.html

The Point here is if you can get a good price on this lens it is a keeper. It is a great lens new or used. At $800 for a new one if you can find it get it a hell of a bargain if it is USA goods. You also get a one year warranty if USA goods. I think the new 24-70 F2.8 L sells for around $1,300 + or - a few $$. So buy it and just be Happy :D just buy in from some one who you can trust!
