I always shoot RAW so I have elected to leave my camera set on AWB. On my 10D the color temperature comes back in post processing at around 5200K give or take. On my MKII these are coming in at around 7000K.
The images do look fine out of both. My question is why the difference between cameras.

I'm probably not going to be much help to you (since I use a DRebel), but here goes:
1) What conversion software are you using? I use C1 & I think I saw somewhere that they are aware of inconsistent reporting of WB temperature numbers between their software & Canon's (maybe CS too). So this might make a difference.
2) I think that the temp should vary by shot. As I recall it does in C1 anyway. In other words, the raw processor uses the K number that the camera determines is the best guess at WB. That will be different depending on the light source, etc. So I would expect each different scene to have a different WB temp. Is your experience different? Or does your message mean to say that with otherwise identical shots, you get drastically different numbers?
