A80 equipment for sunset photos?

I hope this isn't too dumb of a question, but I have an A80 and I'm wondering if there is any equipment (filters, etc) needed to take photos of sunsets. I'm just concerned that the sun will damage the sensor (not that I'll be pointing the camera at the sun at noon, but still).
