I want to take some unattended photos with my 10D and a TC-80N3 remote cable. I need to shoot a 3 minute exposure with 15 seconds in between each exposure. That is wasy enough. However, I want to shoot with mirror lockup. The only way I see to do it is to set the remote cable to the times mentioned above and enable mirrir lockup with the custom function. The only problem is that it takes 2 shutter actuations to actually start the exposure, one to lock up the mirror and one to open the shutter. This leaves, in the abouve example a 3 minute and 15 second gap between frames.

Am I missing something? Is there a way to just keep the mirror locked up like the old non electric camera days? Or is there a way to program the remote cord to shoot one exposure for 10 seconds to let the camera shake stop, then shoot a 3 minute exposure and loop?

Thanks for the help.

Have you tried setting the shooting more to self timer on the camera? This will flip the mirror up and take the shot 2 seconds later with one shutter actuation.

There is no way to hold the mirror up, because the mirror is held up electronically then you would loose battery power much quicker.
