I got a good deal on a 2nd hand CPL filter for my new Canon 10-22. Snapped it up for the bargain price of $15 (AU). Only catch was, the seller said someone had glued the 2 elements together. I reckon I can remove the "spring" piece of metal, and am just wondering, is there a solvent of some kind that I can use to remove the glue?

Try soaking it in Rubbing Alcohol.

I'll try and get some - thanks. Can it be bought from a hardware store?

I buy rubbing alcohol at the grocery store, usually it's near the health care products. Isopropyl alcohol or denatured alcohol are other names it may be called.

Coles or Safeway have it, in the medicines section near where the sunscreen and that sort of thing is.

^^ thanks! Perfect.
So I should soak the filter? Try and remove the glass first?

Sorta depends on what glue was used. Be careful in using solvents though as they may attack the polarizing film.
