Hi there! Just wanted to share a couple of comments on these two cameras. My previous camera was a Powershot A630. Took beautiful pics, but somehow the size just wasn't right for me. Just to large for a true pocket camera and not enough zoom for a larger camera. So I took the plunge and bought the S5 and Ixus 860 two weeks ago.
Last week I was in London so I had ample opportunity to test them. The combination was fantastic! The 860 was always in my pocket and allowed me to snap away like crazy. The wide angle is unbelievable - it makes a huge difference, especially when taking travel photo's. Quality of pictures was slightly worse than the A630, but still very good - I've made some really nice 4x6 and 5x8 prints. The lack of control took a while to get used to, but overall the size and WA definitely makes it worth it!
The S5 is a gem! Pictures came out really top quality and the zoom is fantastic. I am really happy with this camera as an upgrade from my A630. A bit large to carry around the whole day when traveling, but had it in my rucksack and took it out for the special photo's or wherever the situation really demanded decent zoom, controls etc.
All in all the combination proved to be a real winner and I couldn't be more happy with my choices. (I fretted for some time before deciding on the 860)
Thanks
