I really like the second one, but don't have any constructive critique for you other than to experiment with a tighter crop, or maybe include more of the smoke, but I like it as it is.

The firs image is real cute
on the second one I would have liked to see the point of focus on the glowing part, maby! I think the colours work well in the background DOF working really well

It's hard to supply a real critique on these without knowing what you wanted each to communicate. For example, one could say, about the second picture, to re-shoot with a blank (uncluttered) background. But if you were trying to express the notion of blowing up consumer the trappings of modern life (that is a fuse, right?), then one would likely suggest you bring the clutter more into focus...

Looks like an incense stick to me...

I also agree with the comment about focus on the glowing portion.
