A85 malfunction: LCD Black but pictures still take

I have an A85 camera and the screen just went black but it will still take pictures normally. Though I don't have digital zoom - it won't even let me select it in the menu. Just skips over it.

Know what could be causing this?

Try pushing the Display button a few times; you may have just turned it off. Scary the first time it happens to you, I know.

If getting caught out by that is stupid, so'm I. Took me a whole bunch of fussing the first time it happened to me.

I had a similar thing happen with this refurbished SD1000 that Canon just sent me.

But it was the shutter blades that jammed. I could see them closed over the lens.

I tapped the lens a few times while pushing the shutter button and they freed themselves. Works great now.
