I've been using two 10Ds for a while now and recently bought Canon's MKII. My opinion so far is: I'm not really impressed with the purchase; in fact, I had a rough time establishing focus at a wedding this weekend under low-light conditions using the 550EX and 24-70--the 10D simply does better--in my opinion and observation. No one single "thing" pops out at me when using the MKII verses the 10D to justify the 3x price difference--aside from weight and build quality--and build quality is no slouch on the 10D. I had planned on selling one of the 10Ds, but now I think I am going to hold on to both 10Ds, spend more time with the MKII, and then decide what to sell.
This is more of a FYI type post, but wonder if others are as impressed as I am with the MKII. I am not saying it is a bad camera AT ALL; I am saying that the 10D is a better value in my opinion.

I have to ask why you felt you needed to upgrade.

The MKII is more for sports or other high-speed photographic needs. A wedding is hardly the proper place to compare it to another camera.

I love my 10D, but it doesn't compare to the 1D Mark II in:
1. Image detail
2. Color smoothness.
3. Shutter lag.
4. Fps/buffer.
5. AI Servo focusing and tracking.
6. 1000 shots or more on one battery.
7. Parameter / color space flexibility.
8. ETTL II

I have found that among the many other improvements over the 10D's performance. the AutoFocus on the MkII positively blows the 10D AF out of the water.
If you are experiencing AF on the MkII that is sub-par to the 10D there is something not quite right. :?
I'd look into experimenting with the different AF features... and try to rule out a problem with the camera quickly. I just can't imagine a 1D that deosn't have lightning fast bulletproof AF.
As far as weddings,
I know a couple that split there Photogrphy profession between high end Weddings and Photojournalism at the Providence Journal.
The Journal is a "nikon" paper... (ie there own fleet is Nikon gear.. and thus most of there contributors use Nikon)
Well.. for the weddings.. they wanted to go all digital and Medium format for when Film was needed.
They switched to the MkII's and have not touched there Nikons since...

By the way timmyquest, scottbergerphoto answered the question you asked: "I have to ask why you felt you needed to upgrade."
Regarding autofocus, my concerns with the MKII's ability to focus quickly has to do with low-light conditions. Maybe there's an issue with the body, but I seem to recall someone else experienced the same problem.
Careful reading my initial post because my "opinion and observation" as I state is initial and based on one data point--one event.
