I just love these birds but I don't see to many of them. There are a few that have been hanging around the office for the past several months but I only see them early in the morning. I have been trying to get some pics but they have not been cooperating. One day a few week's ago I actually caught them being fairly playful and cooperative so i snapped a few shots...the only problem was they insisted on keeping the sun to their back. :) Anyway, I think they are gone for the winter so I thought I would share one of the better shots that I managed to snap. The rest are mostly too back lit to show anything. C&C welcome.

I think that is a Scissor Tail Flycatcher , state bird of Oklahoma.

Sorry for the mis identification. I actually realized that right after I posted but assumed that someone would correct me. :)

It is truly amazing to see these birds trying to catch a bug. They a very agile birds.

You're right, it is pretty amazing. Especially if you see them take off from the ground. At first they almost look a little clumsy and kind of remind me of that bird from the Dr. Seuss book. The one that's tail grew too big for it to fly....but once they get going they are very graceful and agile.
